Following the grounding of Peruvian Airlines on 4 October 2026, Peru’s two remaining domestic carriers have moved quickly to absorb demand on the routes the airline had operated. LATAM Peru and Sky Airline have both announced additional frequency on Lima’s most-travelled domestic corridors over the coming weeks.

What LATAM Peru Has Added

LATAM Peru operated the most domestic routes in Peru before the Peruvian Airlines collapse and has the largest aircraft inventory to respond. The airline has confirmed additional daily frequencies on the following routes from Jorge Chavez International Airport (LIM):

Lima to Cusco (CUZ): Two additional daily rotations have been added, bringing the total to approximately 12 or 13 departures per day. This is the busiest domestic route in the country and was the one most affected by the Peruvian Airlines suspension. Fares on early-morning and late-night departures are significantly cheaper than peak midday slots.

Lima to Arequipa (AQP): One additional daily rotation, raising frequency to six or seven daily departures. Arequipa is the gateway to the Colca Canyon and a connecting point for travellers heading to Puno and Lake Titicaca.

Lima to Juliaca (JUL): Juliaca serves Puno and Lake Titicaca. LATAM had previously operated three to four daily rotations; the airline has added at least one further rotation following Peruvian Airlines’ exit from this route.

Lima to Chiclayo (CIX) and Lima to Piura (PIU): Both northern routes now have added capacity. These corridors had significant Peruvian Airlines presence and were among the most disrupted by the shutdown.

Sky Airline’s Response

Sky Airline, the Chilean low-cost carrier that expanded into Peru in 2025, has also announced increased frequency on Lima-Cusco and Lima-Arequipa. The airline is positioning itself aggressively on price and has flagged promotional fares in the S/.199 to S/.299 range (approximately USD 55 to USD 80) on Lima-Cusco for October and November departures. Sky operates a narrowbody fleet of Airbus A320 family aircraft from Lima.

Star Peru, a smaller regional carrier, continues to serve several secondary destinations including Andahuaylazo, Talara, and some Amazon routes. Its capacity additions have been more limited, but the airline remains active.

Booking Recommendations

Demand on Lima-Cusco has spiked sharply since the Peruvian Airlines grounding. Travellers with fixed itineraries should book remaining flights as soon as possible. Prices have risen on midday departures but remain reasonable on early-morning and evening slots.

For those whose Peruvian Airlines booking was cancelled and who have not yet secured alternatives:

  1. Book directly through LATAM’s website or Sky’s website for the fastest availability view
  2. Also check aggregators such as Despegar (popular across Latin America) or Google Flights for price comparison
  3. Do not wait for a refund from Peruvian Airlines before booking a replacement ticket; claims via Indecopi are expected to take several months to process

If your itinerary is flexible, overland options remain available. Our Lima to Cusco guide covers the overnight bus option via Nazca and Abancay, which takes approximately 18 to 22 hours but is a workable alternative for travellers with more time. What This Means for November and December Travellers

October and November are the transition months between Peru’s dry and wet seasons. The Inca Trail and Machu Picchu remain fully open through November, and demand for Lima-Cusco flights traditionally rises in November as travellers rush to complete highland itineraries before the wet season begins in earnest in December. With Peruvian Airlines now out of the market, capacity is tighter than it would normally be at this time of year.

Travellers planning November or December visits should finalise domestic flight bookings now rather than waiting. The best time to visit Peru guide has a full seasonal breakdown if you are still weighing your travel dates.
